8 January:

Touch down in Delhi, Changed money and bought a local Sim for the India phone network, call costs are now 1 rupee per min instead of the UK Orange network charge of £1.75 per minute. Now that's a good start given the current exchange rate is 80 rupees to £1.

Kalashnikovs and a strong military presence inside and outside the Airport were my first impressions of India even the security procedure for getting a Sim card made me think these guys are are expecting trouble.

Whisked away from the airport by taxi had to be the best ride, anything and everything goes in all directions, lots of horn blowing without the fist waving seems to be the order of the day.

Night time took us out onto the streets of Old Delhi for a taste of the local food, dodging cars
and pavement holes where street life in all its colours past us by.

The first meal in India was at a small buzzing canteen style pit stop called Angan, for all those foodies out there Linda’s choice (to share) was a Channa Bhatura, thats the ballooned up wafer thin hollow fried bread in front of her, The restaurant is also a big hit with the locals, top fare for two at 300 rps including drinks.
