Breakfast was taken on the hotel rooftop terrace, we have become addicted to hotels with this facility, this one has a 360 degree view of the city and is overlooked by the massive structure of the Mehrangarh Fort, the most dominant and impressive sight in Jodhpur.

View of the Blue City from the fort
We walked up the winding back roads to the fort and spent a couple of hours strolling around it. The cannonball scarred walls tell the story of a great battle in 1808 when the land grabbing Mr Pink from Jaipur and his Afgan army were defeated by Mr Blue of Jodhpur sending them scurrying back across the plain from whence they came.
Jodhpur streets are quite an assault on the senses, a once important city is now a dirty wild west town with very few signs of the economic miracle that is happening in some other parts of India.
