11 January
Today we rose early to be picked up to go trekking in the countryside outside of Udaipur.  We waited patiently outside of the hotel, scrutinising each vehicle that came by until a little auto rickshaw (tuk-tuk) stopped and asked if we were going trekking.  We have been in an auto rickshaw before but this was the first time we have been taken off road into a rural area over speed bumps, pot holes and dodging other many road users including cows, non-stop.  Quite an exhilerating start to the day.
We were joined by Kelly and Alan, an Aussie couple living in Sydney where they work as actors and we chatted along the way.
The trek was to a Hindu temple in a cave through scrub most of the way and took about 2 hours each way.  Along the way we met several acquaintances of our guide who readily posed for photos and appeared very friendly and happy folk.
