10 January:
Arrived in Udaipur on time after a 12 hour overnight sleeper, this event proved to be an excellent experience. The total cost of the journey for 2 aircon’ berths with crisp white sheets amounted to a quarter of what we pay for a day return to Waterloo. It sure beats the airline personal space experience too. The only down side was that the train was about a mile long so it took some time to find our pre-booked carriage and seats.

Udaipur has a romantic setting allegedly unmatched in Rajasthan and even possibly in the whole of India.

We spent the day taking in the major sights of Lake Pichola and the City Palace.
